How to Stop People Pleasing

Are you living your life based on what other people expect of you?
Wanting their approval and making sure you're not disappointing anyone?
Is it getting in the way of being your best and true self?

... and be your true and authentic self.

The only thing that gets in the way of feeling good about yourself is the way you've been taught to see yourself in this world.

Whether directly from someone you loved, or indirectly from life experiences, when you doubt your worth and what you have to share, it's inevitable that you

feel stuck,
lost, and
unsure of what your purpose is.

If you want to have absolute clarity and conviction about your worth because you're tired of wearing a mask and hiding behind what others expect of you, this is the place to start.

Learn how to
rewire your brain,
rewrite your narrative,
release blocks from unhelpful limiting beliefs, and
regain your personal power and agency.

Be Your True Self

Authenticity, Confidence, Empowerment

- Kevin Gainey

Here's how you release your patterns of
people-pleasing, self-sacrificing, and self-doubting.
Phase 1: Release the Outdated
Phase 2: Reclaim Your Expression
Phase 3: Rebuild Life Flow

Not if you want to feel good about yourself for the rest of your life - and feel good about who you are and your true worth.

We've all been there - power poses, visualizations, changing our postures and using power language - to try and pretend to be someone or something so that we can: successfully deliver a speech, sell something, or feel good about ourselves in a day-to-day conversation.

But chances are, if you've tried any of the above, you probably subsconsiously sent yourself the message that you're a fraud. An impostor. And any successful outcome is temporary and pure luck.

So each time you do the same thing, you have to do the same thing all the time. It doesn't feel natural. And if it finally gets easier, it feels really misaligned. It doesn't feel good.

The good news is, you can do a few things to teach yourself what you're made of.
The better news is, if you can do the following below, then you're ready to take it up a notch.

Here are some tips on how to feel more confident about yourself and your place in this world:

1. Know your values.
When you know what's important to you, the smaller things in life like what other people think of you and how they might be judging you - becomes less important. When we look to others to feel good about ourselves, when we look to others to accept or validate us, or when we look to others to see if they like us - it's all because we don't know if we like ourselves. Knowing your values is a pre-requisite to liking yourself. This happens to be the case because knowing your values requires that you've done the work in knowing who you are.

2. Understand where you come from and what's shaped you.
In doing the inner-work of reflecting and assessing, you'll come to find that you're not an island. There are experiences that have shaped you - the things that you've gone through in your life will be the reason why you value certain things. If you grew up witnessing an animal being harmed, you might very well develop an aversive reaction to eating animal products. Or you might find yourself donating time and money to charities that make a difference to the other species on this planet. When you know your roots, and you can go deep, you'll find that it's easier to withstand the storm as you're reaching for the heavens.

3. Release limiting beliefs.
You've lived through it all. The ups and the downs, the good and the bad. And if you're still here, chances are you want to keep going. You know that there is so much more to explore, so much more of yourself to expand. But you seem to run into the same blocks, over and over again. You keep tripping yourself up, getting in your own way. You procrastinate. You defend your actions. You blame your past or your situation. You hope that one day something might change in our life, and then you'll do things differently. Anything that you want, that you haven't been able to reach, is because somewhere inside of you, you don't believe you're capable, worthy of, or good enough to have. When you release your limiting beliefs, you can move past those blocks and be really damn proud of who you're becoming.

4. Appreciate the people/experiences that have taught you.
There's a reason why they say no man is an island. There are people in your life that have inspired you. Taught you something good. Or taught you something bad. People that have shown you how unbelievably beautiful you are. Experiences that have helped you to shape your skills. Situations that have been placed in your life to teach you a lesson. Relationships that have helped you to resolve karma. By understanding who and what has brought you to where you are today, you begin to develop a clearer sense of purpose and conviction about what makes you, you.

5. Be really clear on your purpose.
There's no understating this. Be really, very, strongly, clear on your purpose. As soon as you know your value, and you begin to follow the breadcrumbs of the Universe, your purpose becomes really clear. And everything else that made you believe that you needed others' permission or their acceptance, fades away. Your sense of strength, character, and self-love begins to become really clear for you, and you'll never feel insecure, lonely, or doubtful of yourself or your worth ever again.
